DANKIND ACADEMY BASKETBALL
KAMPALA, UGANDA
Basketball for a brighter Future
Dankind Academy Basketball is a humanitarian project inspired by the work of former NBA players Luol Deng and Manute Bol using education, basketball and construction as vehicles for progress in East Africa. With a purpose built basketball facility in Kampala, Uganda and close to the world's newest nation we can educate, mentor and train talented student-athletes on full athletic scholarships. We want our high school graduates to become professionals and if possible use their height and athleticism to become professional basketball players who are also charitable role models dedicating 10% of their future earnings to create a bright future for the next generation. Our ultimate goal is to build preplanned communities for refugees wanting to return to South Sudan and develop the nation while also creating cities to accommodate the homeless and those subject to adverse poverty in East Africa. This movement will be led by the players we train and will be completed by those who want to join our cause and help create a society where an adequate standard of living, relevant education and green energy environment is available to all while including basketball and healthy lifestyle as a fundamental part of the new culture in East Africa.

UPCOMING EVENTS
The following are some of the Events that we hope to host at Dankind Academy
GIANTS OF AFRICA
The general manager of the Toronto Raptors Masai Ujiri created one of the if not the most successful youth basketball program in Africa by hosting annual summer camps during the NBA offseason. By expanding each year, Giants of Africa initiatives extended camps and outreach programs to include Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and Rwanda, where over 200 campers had the opportunity to Dream Big with GOA.
Our goal is to bring these camps to South Sudan for years to come.
LUOL DENG CAMP
Since 2017 the DENG Camp has expanded its footprint globally and deliver new camps in both the U.S. and Australia for the most talented South Sudan high school players.
These camps will help facilitate more opportunities both on and off the basketball court for a community of players with whom Luol shares a similar journey. Our dream would be to host one of his camps at the academy in Uganda.
MIDNIGHT MADNESS
Show ’n’ Proove Courts:
The concept is constant 5 on 5, Winner stays on, All games are to 11, Streetball from 23:00 - 07:00 including the atmosphere of music but a statistical battle between every player for the chance to win a place on an All-Star team travel team competing in a tournament abroad. The program was originally created to help combat gun and knife crime in London, England by Nhamo Shire who stared using a series of basketball ‘open runs’ through the night as a positive diversionary activity for 16-25 year olds.
FIGHTBALL
The world's most intense one-on-one basketball competition. Fightball provides 'all highlights, all the time', taking one-on-one basketball and giving it a makeover - pushing its speed and intensity up to 11.
Fightball pits some of the world's toughest and most athletic ballers against each other in a show of skill, endurance, strength and passion. and when all is said and done, only one is left standing.
FIBA 3X3 QUALIFIER
The rules are very simple and designed to make it a fast, spectacular and exciting game. The non-stop music brings an authentic urban culture atmosphere, which attracts a new young audience to the games.
3x3 is an opportunity for new players, organisers and countries to go from the streets to the World Stage. The stars of the game play in a professional tour and some of the most prestigious multi-sports events. FIBA has made an official bid for 3x3 to be added to the Olympics.

COACHING CLINIC
The aim of these clinics is to provide valuable insight and education to coaches and administrators of the game. The goal is to provide a day for a proper skill development path for aspiring coaches to be able to teach the game to players of all ages and ability levels. Additionally a guest speaker will be invited to focus on areas of expertise to present on basketball and leadership topics applied both on and off the court. Attendees will leave the academy with the first steps need to achieve FIBA licensed coaching certificate and accreditation.

FUBA
Federation of Ugandan Basketball Association
After 2 years competing and being crowned Nairobi Basketball Association champions and semi-finalists in the Kenyan Basketball Federation division 1 league Dankind Academy will not only have players active but be the location to host the national league games arranged by the Federation of Ugandan Basketball Association league. This will be a great platform to produce footage of players looking for scholarships and professional contracts abroad as Dankind Academy has done in the past.
NATIONAL TEAM TRAINING CENTRE
For national pride
Many countries still struggle to provide their teams with adequate funding and facilities but Dankind Academy hopes to provide a location for consistent national team training for both the Ugandan, South Sudanese and any other East African team to prepare for the Zone 5, Afrobasket tournaments and any other FIBA or international competitions.
WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL
Fun and Challenging
Wheelchair basketball played by people with varying physical disabilities that disqualify them from playing an able-bodied sport. These include spina bifida, birth defects, cerebral palsy, paralysis due to accident, amputations (of the legs, or other parts), and many other disabilities. This could be a positive outlet for those who have lost limbs and still seek to enjoy sport.
